I only got into photography after playing with my sisters Canon 40D one day and I have been hooked ever since!
She lent me her old camera which was a “bridge” camera and I was taking photo of everything, I didnt put it down for ages!
After playing with her camera I started looking for my own (only about a week later) after doing loads of research I ended up getting a Nikon D40. I had to sell one of my beloved Mini’s to pay for it, thats how much I wanted it, I was hooked!
So I got my camera and then I wanted new lenses, and some filters, and a tripod, and it just goes on and on.
I had only been “shooting” for a about a week and I got one of my pictures printed in the DSLR User mag which was just amazing!
I have been trying long day time exposures the last few weeks, and have been really enjoying it! The effects of long exposure during the day is amazing!
The photos i have picked above were 121 seconds just before sunset.
As you can see the water has turned into a mist and the clouds have a blur to them due to the long exposure. I love this effect but it take a lot of time to get right! But the all part of the fun!!

I simply love the colours of the lights in this particular shot. Seems so bright & joyful. Especially since I’ve never seen the bridge being lighted up before.

I had seen in a photography magazine a lot of photos that only had part of the shot in colour, and have always wanted to know how it was done!
I spent a while on Flickr getting information on how it was done, then I set out to find a shot that would work well with it. I saw this love flower and the colours just jumped out at me! I knew I had found the photo!
I spent ages working on the image getting it just right, with only the center of the flower in focus it made it hard to find the edges but I did it in the end! I’m really happy with the way it turned out!

My name is Lena, I am a swedish photographer living in the very south of my country in a city called Malmö.
I have been into photography for as long as I can remember. I think my first camera was a Kodak “Starlet” and I must have been about the age of 7 when my parents gave it to me. At the time I recall cats and horses were my favorite subject for pictures.
Nowadays I shoot mostly with Nikon, both analog and digital and a dream for me would be to have a medium format digital.
My pictures are often inspired by mood, light and shadowplay and I am often out at night capturing the suroundings of my city.
A big influence has been my mentor in photography Örjan Henriksson: www.orjanhenrikssonart.se
I often find the internet being a wonderful source for finding tips and techniques to try out and I have recently started to try HDR wich is an interesting way of bringing out details and depth.
Also it is great as a place to view beautiful and creative images and to connect with people all over the world with the same interest in photography.

6 months down the line and I’m still loving it! Learning more and more each day.
The shot I posted in Hiddenyou’s competition is called “Stripped naked” and I got the idea when flicking through Flickr and came across a photo by Uncle Berty’s called “simply me” I really liked what he had done and fancied trying it myself, it was really different form what I normally do (landscapes),but I really enjoyed it. and have now done a set of photos called “emotion”.
I think that we all need to try something new now and then, as its the only way to grow. You never know, you might just like it.
